India and the European Union have officially concluded negotiations on a long-awaited Free Trade Agreement (FTA), marking a major milestone in their economic and strategic partnership. On Tuesday, representatives from both sides exchanged formal documents confirming the end of talks, paving the way for deeper trade and investment ties between India and the EU.
Along with the trade deal, both sides also signed a Defence and Security Partnership, strengthening cooperation in areas such as maritime security, cybersecurity, and counter-terrorism. The agreement was signed by European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas and India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, highlighting the growing trust and strategic alignment between the two partners.
In addition, India and the EU launched a Green Hydrogen Task Force, aimed at boosting collaboration in clean energy, supporting climate goals, and promoting sustainable industrial development.
Together, these agreements signal a new chapter in India-EU relations, combining economic growth, security cooperation, and climate action to build a stronger and more resilient partnership for the future.
